GUM is looking for graduate and professional school students from diverse backgrounds to mentor our undergrad gummies. Our undergrad gummies are interested in applying to graduate schools in one of the following fields: education, humanities, neuroscience, psychology, public health, public policy, sociology, social welfare, urban planning and STEM.

A Grad Gummy Will Gain:

  • • An organized structure to facilitate mentoring skills
  • • Leadership in different aspects of the program implementation
  • • Professional training development opportunities
  • • The ability to give back to the Bruin community with a feasible time-commitment
  • • Networking/ Connect to the larger campus community
  • • Life-fulfillment, or making connections outside of academic research and teaching
  • • Familiarity with campus resources
  • • It’s fun! Mentoring is important and really enjoyable!

Preferred Qualifications

  • • Must be a registered UCLA graduate/ professional school student in good academic standing
  • • Have prior mentorship and/or teaching experience
  • • Be motivated and enthusiastic
  • • Be available to attend the Mentor Orientation in winter 2021 & volunteer 1-2 hours a week in spring 2021 (via email, in person, by attending workshops, etc.)
  • • Be available to attend GUM Kickoff Event, Graduate Workshops and other supplementary events
